A rapid method for the separation of the phospholipids from the neutral lipids in plasma

It is well-established that different types of dietary fats have different physiological properties with both observational and clinical trials having identified associations between the levels of several specific fatty acids and a number of human diseases, such as inflammatory diseases and cardiovascular diseases [1-3]. Further, there is increasing evidence that the balance between n-6 long chain polyunsaturated fatty acids (LCPUFA), in particular arachidonic acid (AA), and the n-3 LCPUFA, eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA), is particularly important in human health [4], [5].
