Novel trilaminar polymeric anti-adhesion membrane prevents postoperative pericardial adhesion.
CONCLUSIONS: The novel trilaminar membrane effectively reduced postoperative pericardial adhesions. The placement of trilaminar membrane at the time of sternal closure provides a novel combination to minimize the extent and severity of pericardial adhesions while providing a physical barrier between the sternum and the cardiac structures.
