Novel sensors for monitoring the behavioral symptoms of dementia

Sensors could have an outsized role in improving the detection, prediction, and, ultimately, safe and effective management of the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD). The image conjured of the end user of technology-supported services is likely that of younger “digital natives” interacting with apps on mobile phones. Yet, there is a compelling use case for sensors as automated data collection tools for dementia symptoms such as agitation.
