CONCLUSION: Current literature suggests an important and growing concern for the abuse of PRG. Male sex, psychiatric and/or addiction history, including opioid addiction, may be potential risk factors for the development of addictive behaviours associated with PRG. The recent study by Vollono and colleagues [1] provides a concise report on a SARS-CoV-2 associated focal status epilepticus case. The authors hypothesize that a neurotropic mechanism may be involved in the development of the clinical presentation, albeit without PCR -proven neuroinvasion.
