American Psychiatric Association Public Psychiatry Fellowship Program Funded by The American Psychiatric Foundation and Bristol-Myers Squibb Deadline: December 12, 2013 The purposes of the American Psychiatric Association Public Psychiatry Fellowship Program are to (1) provide experiences that will contribute to the professional development of residents who will play future leadership roles within the public sector psychiatry, (2) heighten awareness of the public psychiatry activities and career opportunities and (3) to provide a community of peers with shared interest in public psychiatry. Since the program's founding in 1980, the fellowship has been awarded to more than 300 outstanding residents.   Program Benefits APA Public Psychiatry Fellows are active participants in selected APA components and the Institute on Psychiatric Services (IPS). Based on their expressed interests, fellows are assigned to an APA component and take part in all deliberations, projects, and initiatives. They receive sponsorship to attend component meetings held in September in Arlington, VA.   For many years, APA Public Psychiatry Fellows have had prominent roles in the Institute on Psychiatric Services. The program provides sponsorship to attend two Institutes.
