This study aimed to investigate the correlation between the four OMP genes (babA,oipA,sabA, andhomB) and gastroduodenal diseases. One hundred and seventy-sevenH. pylori strains were isolated from Chinese patients with different gastroduodenal diseases (49 chronic gastritis, 19 gastric ulcer, 33 gastric cancer, and 76 duodenal ulcer), 94 of which contained pathological information (41 superficial gastritis, 24 intestinal hyperplasia, and 29 gastric adenocarcinoma). The full-length amplification ofbabA,oipA,sabA,and homB genes was acquired and sequenced. Then, the genetic polymorphism was analyzed to compare with the referen...

eybek B Abstract Colonization of the human gastric mucosa by H. pylori may cause peptic and duodenal ulcers (DUs), gastric lymphomas, and gastric cancers. The cagL gene is a component of cag T4SS and is involved in cagA translocation into host. An association between the risk of gastric cancer and the type of HLA class II (DR and/or DQ) was suggested in different populations. The aim of this study was to investigate, the clinical association of the cagL gene with host HLA alleles in H. pylori strains that were isolated from patients with gastric cancer, DU, and non-ulcer dyspepsia (NUD) and to determine the HLA al...

AbstractAs the world population is aging rapidly, emergency abdominal surgery for acute abdomen in the elderly represents a global issue, both in developed and developing countries. Data regarding all the elderly patients who underwent emergency abdominal surgery from January 2017 to December 2017 at 36 Italian surgical departments were analyzed with the aim to appraise the contemporary reality regarding the use of emergency laparoscopy for acute abdomen in the elderly. 1993 patients were enrolled. 1369 (68.7%) patients were operated with an open technique; whereas, 624 (31.3%) underwent a laparoscopic operation. The posto...

Conclusions: Our data demonstrate that LZD protects the duodenal mucosa from IND-caused lesions, which is at least partially attributable to the interaction of its potential cytoprotective and anti-inflammatory mechanisms together with enhancement of the mucosal immunity through TLR-2/MyD88 signaling pathway. We present a case of a 57-year-old male diagnosed in the Gastroenterology Department, which presented a bleeding duodenal ulcer with irregular borders. Diagnoses: The immunohistochemical staining showed: CD20(+++), CD10(+) and Ki-67>40%. Interventions: The patient was successfully treated by Poly-chemotherapy with R-CHOP (rituximab, cyclophosphamide, doxorubicin, vindesine and prednisolone). Outcomes: After 6 courses of chemotherapy treatment, the duodenal ulcer was completely healed by reviewing the UGIE. Lessons: Our report might give further strength to avoiding the erroneous and missed diagnosis for PI-D...

CONCLUSION: The findings of this study indicated that bezoars are more common among subjects with history of gastrointestinal surgery, diabetes mellitus, or psychiatric disorders; bezoars are closely related to peptic ulcer and reflux esophagitis; and they can be successfully treated with endoscopy. We report a case of perforated duodenal ulcer that failed surgical intervention and, however, was successfully closed with over‐the‐scope clip ( OTSC) closure with concomitant placement of fully covered stent. AbstractGastrointestinal ulcers and perforations can occur as a complication of nonsteroidal anti ‐inflammatory drugs (NSAID). Emerging endoscopic technologies can be utilized to successfully intervene perforations that fail surgical intervention. We report a case of perforated duodenal ulcer that failed surgical intervention and, however, was successfully closed with over‐the‐scope clip ( OTSC) closure wit...
