ASO Author Reflections: Margin Positivity Following Esophageal Cancer Resection is Associated with Treatment Decisions
Effects of an ethyl acetate extract of Daphne altaica stem bark on the cell cycle, apoptosis and expression of PPARγ in Eca‑109 human esophageal carcinoma cells. Mol Med Rep. 2020 May 27;: Authors: Kizaibek M, Wubuli A, Gu Z, Bahetjan D, Tursinbai L, Nurhamit K, Chen B, Wang J, Tahan O, Cao P Abstract Daphne altaica Pall. (D. altaica; Thymelaeaceae) has long been used in traditional Kazakh medicine for the treatment of cancer and respiratory diseases. Previous studies have demonstrated the in vitro anticancer effects of D. altaica extract and its constituents in certain cancer ce...
ConclusionsWe demonstrated the feasibility and safety of LECS for SMTs even on the EGJ. Fundoplication after LECS may be an approach for the prevention of postoperative reflux esophagitis. Future research is warranted to validate the efficacy of the addition of fundoplication.
Conclusions: Most cancers may be insensitive to social development. Internal factors, including aging, may be a key factor for the occurrence of cancer. PMID: 32462031 [PubMed - in process]
In conclusion, although salvage surgery for structural recurrence of PTC has a high risk of complications, it may be worthwhile when macroscopic curative resection is available. The decision should be made considering various factors including curability, risk of surgical procedure, functional outcome, and life expectancy. PMID: 32461508 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In this study, GSE20347, GSE23400 and GSE45670 datasets were retrieved from Gene Expression Omnibus (GEO) database, and the overlapping differentially expressed genes (DEGs) in three datasets were screened. Then the overlapping DEGs function was annotated by Kyoto Encyclopedia of Genes and Genomes (KEGG) pathway-enrichment analysis. The prognostic value of the top five KEGG pathway-related genes were further validated in The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. After extensive statistical analysis, four genes (CDC25B, CXCL8, FZD6 and MCM4) were identified as potential prognostic markers. Among the four candidate genes, the...
CONCLUSIONS: People with schizophrenia do not have a higher overall incidence of cancer than people in the general population. However, there are significant differences in the risk of specific cancer types overall and by sex calling for efforts to develop disease-specific prevention programmes. In people with schizophrenia, higher risk generally occurs in those
CONCLUSIONS: LH is a useful predictive tool in the evaluation of RLN LN metastasis for esophageal cancer. The present findings support the result that LH can be an indicator of RLN LN dissection. PMID: 32456390 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
To explore the outcome of placing a single Y-shaped tracheal self-expandable metallic stent (SEMS) to treat emergent carinal stenosis combined with stenosis of the right main and intermediate bronchi. The clinical and imaging data of 10 patients (8 males, 2 females) with carinal stenosis combined with stenosis of the right main and intermediate bronchi were retrospectively analyzed. There were 4 patients with esophageal cancer and 6 patients with lung cancer. All patients underwent treatment with a single Y-shaped tracheal SEMS. The long branch was inserted into the right main and intermediate bronchi, while the short bra...
Discussion: This investigative study will provide clinical evidence of BRIHK administration for anxiety and water brash, which might improve mental distress and reduce postoperative mortality. Trial registration: The protocol and progress are registered on the Japan Registry of Clinical Trials (jRCT s021190001) and University Hospital Medical Information Network (UMIN000031330). The protocol was approved by the Japanese Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare certified clinical research review board, Tohoku University (CRB2180001).
