Conclusion: Even in the absence of genetic testing, screening for children with high risk for Rb is effective in enhancing early diagnosis, improving visual outcome, and increasing eye salvage rate with limited exposure to treatment burden. PMID: 32432497 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Conclusions: Young patients presenting with leukocoria need a full work up, which includes ruling out retinoblastoma. CSD can present as a granulomatous mass similar to toxocariasis, which can rarely lead to debilitating and irreversible vision loss.

M. Benbrook Cervical cancer is caused by high-risk human papillomavirus (HPV) types and treated with conventional chemotherapy with surgery and/or radiation. HPV E6 and E7 proteins increase phosphorylation of retinoblastoma (Rb) by cyclin D1/cyclin dependent kinase (CDK)4/6 complexes. We hypothesized that cyclin D1 degradation by the SHetA2 drug in combination with palbociclib inhibition of CDK4/6 activity synergistically reduces phosphorylated Rb (phospho-Rb) and inhibits cervical cancer growth. The effects of these drugs, alone, and in combination, were evaluated in SiHa and CaSki HPV-positive and C33A HPV-negative c...

Abstract Cyclin-dependent kinases (CDKs) is a group of multifunctional enzymes consisting of catalytic and regulatory subunits. The regulatory subunit, cyclin remain dissociated under normal circumstances, complexation of cyclin with the catalytic subunit of CDK leads to its activation for phosphorylation of protein substrates. The primary role of CDKs is in the regulation of the cell cycle. Retinoblastoma protein (Rb) is one of the widely investigated tumor suppressor protein substrate of CDK, which prevent cells from entering into cell-cycle under normal conditions. Phosphorylation of Rb by CDKs causes its inact...

ConclusionsThese data suggest that AS ‐IV can antagonize radiation‐induced brain cells senescence; and its mechanism may be related to p53‐p21 and p16‐RB signalling pathways of ageing regulation.

ConclusionCurcumin inhibited proliferation and migration of WERI-Rb-1 cells, a cell line of human retinoblastoma, which might be through modulating NF- κB and its downstream proteins including VEGF, MMP-2, and MMP-9.

lo MN Abstract In Mexico, toxocariasis, like some other parasitosis in humans, is not a disease of conventional surveillance or immediate notification. Seroprevalence studies are scarce, six dealing with paediatric populations and eight dealing with adults; the reports were only from four states in Mexico. There were 1596 children, and the seroprevalence was 13.8%. In the case of adults, there were 1827 subjects, and seroprevalence was 4.7%. There is a significant positive association between seroprevalence and the paediatric population P

Abstract A great deal of evidence suggests that long non-coding RNAs (lncRNAs) function in the tumorigenesis of retinoblastoma (RB). However, the roles of lncRNA ILF3-AS1 in RB are still unclear. In the present study, our work revealed that the lncRNA ILF3-AS1 was increased in both RB tissues and cell lines. Repression of ILF3-AS1 suppressed both RB cell proliferation and invasion in vitro. ILF3-AS1 also promoted tumor growth in vivo. While exploring the mechanisms behind ILF3-AS1 in RB, we identified that ILF3-AS1 sponges with miR-132-3p that is expressed at low levels in RB tissues as well as attenuates RB progr...
