We present a surgical cystectomy technique that correctly identifies the cleavage plane with a low risk of ovarian cyst rupture, even in patients with multicystic ovarian cysts. Cystectomy was performed using Maryland forceps with gentle open and close dissecting motions only. Both the surgeon and assistant handled the ovarian cortex and cyst wall, and soft traction between the cortex and cyst wall as far as the nearby dissection plane without grasping the cyst wall was essential. In patients with multicystic ovarian cysts, making a plane at the notch between cysts decreases the risk of cyst rupture. This technique allows ...

In conclusion, cystectomy significantly increases the risk of cycle cancellation due to poor ovarian response, which might be catastrophic individually. However, it does not seem to affect the live birth rates.IMPACT STATEMENTWhat is already known on this subject? Both the presence of an endometrioma or surgical removal may have deleterious effects on fertility potential. What do the results of this study add? Our results confirm that although cystectomy has no benefit on the number of oocytes collected and live birth rate, it increases the risk of cycle cancellation significantly in assisted reproductive technology cycles ...

Authors: Pang L, Wu S, Kong J Abstract We read the article published in the Spanish Journal of Gastroenterology and its accompanying editorial about the laparoscopic treatment of both cholecystolithiasis and choledocholithiasis in a single stage procedure. We would like to make some comments. Common bile duct (CBD) stones can lead to serious complications such as cholangitis and pancreatitis. So far, there is no standard surgical treatment for choledocholithiasis. Although, there are some ways to deal with CBD stones. Each method has its own advantages and disadvantages. In the era of advancements in minimally inva...

CONCLUSIONS: Simultaneous CRC and CRLM resections seem to be safe when patients are carefully selected, also considering the risk of recurrence concerning oncologic outcomes. The pre-planning of simultaneous resection is mandatory to plan trocar positioning, procedure sequencing, and patient position. PMID: 32490901 [PubMed - in process]

Authors: Ölçücüo─člu E Abstract AIM: The aim of this study was to compare the complications of laparoscopic simple, radical and donor nephrectomies performed in a single center. MATERIALS AND METHODS: The study was conducted on 392 patients who underwent laparoscopic nephrectomy in University of Health Sciences, Ankara Turkiye Yuksek Ihtisas Training and Research Hospital between January 1, 2008 and January 30, 2019. Clinical and laboratory parameters were recorded. Postoperative complications were recorded and graded as per Clavien-Dindo Classification(CDC). All analyses were performed on...

We report on a 31-year-old male patient with non-invasive papillary urothelial carcinoma, low grade of the renal pelvis disguised as xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. The only symptom of the patient was lower back pain. The initial renal-enhanced computed tomography, magnetic resonance imaging and contrast-enhanced ultrasonography showed that the right kidney had a benign lesion and this inflammatory lesion might be xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. A percutaneous renal biopsy was performed and histopathologic examination revealed a xanthogranulomatous pyelonephritis. Initially, we diagnosed it as xanthogranulomatous p...

AbstractPurposeRobot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostatectomy (RALRP) using the da Vinci surgical robot is a common treatment for organ-confined prostate cancer. Augmented reality (AR) can help during RALRP by showing the surgeon the location of anatomical structures and tumors from preoperative imaging. Previously, we proposed hand-eye and camera intrinsic matrix estimation procedures that can be carried out with conventional instruments within the patient during surgery, take
