BARX2 expression is downregulated by CpG island hypermethylation and is associated with suppressed cell proliferation and invasion of gastric cancer cells.

In conclusion, BARX2 expression is aberrantly reduced in GC, which is associated with increased DNA methylation of its promoter. BARX2 inhibits GC cell proliferation, migration, and tumor formation, suggesting that BARX2 acts as a tumor suppressor in gastric carcinogenesis. PMID: 32236603 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ConclusionWe suggest that decreased expression of the miRNA-125a-5p associated with the presence of theH. pylori is an important mechanism in gastric diseases and could be a possible marker for early diagnosis of gastric cancer.

Conclusion: H. pylori infection is closely associated with the serum level of CD47 in adults, suggesting that H. pylori may promote gastric cancer progression by activating CD47-mediated oncogenic pathways. PMID: 32493095 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

Authors: Cheng Y, Di J, Wu J, Shi HT, Zou BC, Zhang Y, Xie DH Abstract OBJECTIVE: Long noncoding RNAs (lncRNAs) display a functional effect on the pathogenesis of several diseases, including various tumors. Herein, we aimed to reveal the role of lncRNA somatostatin receptor 5 antisense RNA 1 (SSTR5-AS1) in gastric cancer (GC). PATIENTS AND METHODS: qRT-PCR was utilized for testing the SSTR5-AS1 expression in 158 paired primary GC tissues and corresponding normal gastric specimens. Receiver operating characteristic (ROC) curves were established to determine the diagnostic values of overexpression of SSTR5-AS1 in...

We conducted a study to evaluate the prognostic and diagnostic values of microRNA-10b (miR-10b) in gastric cancer (GC) based on meta-analysis and TCGA database. Relevant studies were searched in English and Chinese database and meta-analysis was conducted on Stata 12.0. The expression value of miR-10b and clinical parameters of GC patients were downloaded from TCGA database, and relevant analyses were conducted on SPSS. High expression of miR-10b was linked with unfavorable overall survival (OS) in GC (HR = 1.572, 95% CI: 1.240–1.992, P
