Comorbidities associated with psoriatic arthritis: Review and update.

Comorbidities associated with psoriatic arthritis: Review and update. Clin Immunol. 2020 Mar 27;:108397 Authors: Perez-Chada LM, Merola JF Abstract Psoriatic arthritis is an inflammatory arthropathy frequently associated with psoriasis and several other comorbidities. The goal of this review is to summarize the available evidence on the epidemiology, clinical implications, pathological mechanisms proposed, and screening and management recommendations for the comorbidities related with PsA. Reported comorbidities include cardiovascular disease, metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes mellitus, dyslipidemia, inflammatory bowel disease, fatty liver disease, uveitis, kidney disease, infections, osteoporosis, depression, central sensitization syndrome, and gout. Given that these comorbidities may affect both clinical outcomes and the management for these patients, their recognition and monitoring by all health-care providers caring for patients with psoriatic arthritis is of utmost importance.
