Hi all, I was wondering if this would be too damaging to mention but essentially I have a congenital issue in one of my ears which caused hearing loss on one side (not entirely deaf on one side but close) which is relatively rare. This makes it hard for me to hear if someone is whispering into my ear and to pick out sounds in a crowded room but doesn't affect my work in any meaningful way. I wear a hearing aid if needed for very specific situations and don't list it as a medical issue on... Diversity Essay - Hearing issue in one ear?

Nicholas H Andrew, Sonia G Huang, Jamie E CraigIndian Journal of Ophthalmology 2020 68(6):1151-1153 Glaucoma drainage tubes have become increasingly popular in the surgical management of uncontrolled glaucoma. Flow restriction is essential to prevent early postoperative hypotony with non-flow restrictive glaucoma drainage devices. Herein, we describe a new way of using a 3–0 Supramid suture as an intraluminal stent. This technique confers no risk of stent exposure, can be removed ab interno without disturbing the conjunctiva, and aids insertion of the tube into the anterior chamber through a scleral tunnel.
