Morbidity profile of communities in Bhopal city (India) vis- à-vis distance of residence from Union Carbide India Limited plant and drinking water usage pattern

Conclusion: By and large similar pattern of morbidities were recorded in the two strata suggesting that the communities, irrespective of the distance of their residences from UCIL plant or sources of their drinking water, are equally vulnerable to various morbidities.

CONCLUSIONS: SARS-Cov-2 has emerged as a worldwide threat, currently affecting 170 countries and territories across the globe. There is still much to be understood regarding SARS-CoV-2 about its virology, epidemiology and clinical management strategies; this knowledge will be essential to both manage the current pandemic and to conceive comprehensive measures to prevent such outbreaks in the future. COVID-19 occurs with symptoms like fever, cough, myalgia, fatigue, muscle weakness, and impairment in other important bodily functions [1]. As a result of the clinical course of COVID-19 infection, rapidly developing acute respiratory distress syndrome(ARDS) requires intubation and mechanical ventilation (MV) [2]. Comorbid diseases like aging, diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cerebrovascular diseases, chronic respiratory diseases, cancer, etc. along with ARDS were reported to be risk factors for death in patients with COVID-19 [3].

Conclusions: Slight reduction in renal function may be expected in patients undergoing radioligand therapy with 177Lu-PSMA-617 and correlates with cumulative doses. Acute kidney injury was observed only in a small number of cases with subrenal obstruction. Figure: Prostate cancer with Tumor infiltration of the bladder causing postrenal acute kidney injury.

Abstract Human health and environmental risks are increasing following air pollution associated with vehicular and industrial emissions in which particulate matter is a constituent. The purpose of this review was to assess studies on the health effects and mortality induced by particles published for the last 15 years. The literature survey indicated the existence of strong positive associations between fine and ultrafine particles' exposure and cardiovascular, hypertension, obesity and type 2 diabetes mellitus, cancer health risks, and mortality. Its exposure is also associated with increased odds of hypertensive...

Conclusions: Preventive and early detection measures are recommended, continuing to focus on females. In parallel, a multidisciplinary approach could optimise patient journey considering the presence of disease comorbidities, although its role in lung cancer mortality should be further explored. In conclusion, SG is an effective procedure for weight loss with a low risk for the patient to develop malnutrition. In terms of post-operative care, regular check-ups are vital to ensure a positive outcome as well as for the early detection of possible issues. Reflux and weight regain are common issues with SG in a long-term follow-up; thus, patients should be selected carefully for this procedure. PMID: 32359172 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

ia Feng Hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) is a common and fatal cancer. People with HCC report higher odds of comorbidity compared with people without HCC. To explore the association between HCC and medical comorbidity, we used routinely collected clinical data and applied a network perspective. In the network perspective, we used correlation analysis and community detection tests that described direct relationships among comorbidities. We collected 14,891 patients with HCC living in Jilin Province, China, between 2016 and 2018. Cirrhosis was the most common comorbidity of HCC. Hypertension and renal cysts were more commo...

AbstractThe COVID-19 pandemic is a significant global event in the history of infectious diseases. The SARS-CoV-2 appears to have originated from bats but is now easily transmissible among humans, primarily through droplet or direct contact. Clinical features of COVID-19 include high fever, cough, and fatigue which may progress to ARDS. Respiratory failure can occur rapidly after this. The primary laboratory findings include lymphopenia and eosinopenia. Elevated D-dimer, procalcitonin, and CRP levels may correlate with disease severity. Imaging findings include ground-glass opacities and patchy consolidation on CT scan. Mo...
