In conclusion, AK094629 knockdown attenuated the expression of IL‑1β‑regulated IL‑6 in the SMSCs of the temporomandibular joint by inhibiting MAP3K4. Therefore, AK094629 may be a potential novel therapeutic target for the treatment of temporomandibular joint osteoarthritis. PMID: 32468015 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

In conclusion, APT appears to favorably modulate anti-inflammatory effects in chondrocytes making it a promising compound for OA treatment.Graphical AbstractInhibitory effects of Alpinetin on TNF- α-induced NF-κB activation resulted in destruction of cartilage in rat OA chondrocytesin vitro. The TNF- α receptor were stimulated by TNF-α, activating the cytoplasmic IκBα kinases(IKKS), then IKKs will be phosphorylated, and subsequently degraded by the ubiquitin-proteasome system. NF-κB transfer to the nucleus and bind various NF-κB regulates the NF-κB recognition site in t...

Arthrodesis has been described as the gold standard of treatment for midfoot degenerative joint disease (DJD) but has also been associated with nonunion, increased tourniquet times, technical difficulty, and a long postoperative non-weightbearing period. Although it is postulated that a contracted gastrocnemius may cause midfoot pain, there are no reports of using the procedure as a primary treatment for midfoot DJD. The purpose of this study was to determine whether gastrocnemius recession resolved midfoot pain from osteoarthritis and eliminated the need for midfoot arthrodesis.

Objective: The aim of this systematic review and meta-analysis is to assess the efficacy of acupuncture and moxibustion in pain relief and quality of life improvement of knee osteoarthritis (KOA) patients. Methods: The following databases will be searched: MEDLINE, EMBASE, the Cochrane Library, Web of Science, Chinese Biomedical Literature Database, Chinese Nation Knowledge Infrastructure, Wanfang Database, the Chongqing VIP from inception to May 1, 2020. All randomized controlled trials (RCTs) used acupuncture or moxibustion to relieve pain and improve quality of life (QoL) among KOA patients will be included. Study ...

Conclusion: The number of publications about subchondral bone research would be increasing in the next years based on the current global trends. Attention should be drawn to the latest popular research, including “Mesenchymal stem-cells”, “Autologous chondrocyte implantation”, “Microfracture” and “Pain”. Therefore, more and more efforts will be put into mechanism research on subchondral bone, which may inspire new clinical treatments for osteoarthritis and other related diseases based on subchondral bone.

The objective was to see whether the laser moxibustion is non-inferior to the traditional moxibustion in alleviating symptoms of knee osteoarthritis such as pain, stiffness, and joint dysfunction as well as improving quality of life for the patients with knee osteoarthritis, and whether a further RCT directly comparing the laser and traditional moxibustion is necessary. Poole d data from two RCTs in patients with knee osteoarthritis, trial ISRCTN68475405 and trial ISRCTN26065334, were used. In the two RCTs, the eligibility criteria were almost identical, the treatment procedure (i.e., sessions, duration, and points) were s...
