Restoring fertility in women aged 40 years and older after tubal ligation: tubal anastomosis versus in  vitro fertilization

We find this argument easy to make, as our professional society guidelines make the case for us. From the summary statement of “Role of tubal surgery in the era of assisted reproductive technology: a committee opinion” (1), we quote: “Tubal anastomosis for reversal of tubal sterilization has a significantly higher cumulative pregnancy rate than IVF [in vitro fertilization], and it is more cost-efficient, even in wome n 40 years of age or older.” And the evidence to support this conclusion is rated as “good” for microsurgical anastomosis.
