Increased regional homogeneity modulated by metacognitive training predicts therapeutic efficacy in patients with schizophrenia.
This study suggests that MCT is associated with the modulation of ReHo in schizophrenia. ReHo in the right precuneus and left superior MPFC may predict individual therapeutic response for MCT in patients with schizophrenia. PMID: 32215727 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

We examined if the impairing effect of psychopathic tendencies on affective ToM was attenuated with increasing severity of schizotypal personality disorder (PD) in a sample of 80 incarcerated adolescent boys. We showed that the impairing effect of psychopathic tendencies on the recognition of neutral mental states, but not positive or negative mental states, was evident when the relative severity of schizotypal PD was low. However, with higher scores on both measures, we observed better performance in judging neutral mental states. The preservation of affective ToM in adolescents who show elevations in psychopathic tendenc...

CONCLUSIONS: People with schizophrenia do not have a higher overall incidence of cancer than people in the general population. However, there are significant differences in the risk of specific cancer types overall and by sex calling for efforts to develop disease-specific prevention programmes. In people with schizophrenia, higher risk generally occurs in those
The goal of this proposed initiative is to advance translational research to better understand the emergence and worsening of mood and psychotic disorders (e.g., PMD, generalized anxiety disorder, bipolar disorder, and schizophrenia) during the MT to identify targets for future development of novel treatment interventions.
Conclusion: The present study demonstrated new information regarding the prescription patterns of psychotropic drugs in outpatients with PSD in Serbia, amplified with clinically relevant information. This study also revealed distinct prescription patterns concerning antipsychotic/benzodiazepine polypharmacy. Overall, such findings are likely to contribute to improving clinical practice and care for patients with PSD in general.KeypointsPresent exploratory research aimed to elucidate trends of antipsychotics polypharmacy and concomitant use of psychotropic medications including benzodiazepines in the maintenance treatment o...
Clozapine is thought to induce obsessive compulsive symptoms (OCS) in schizophrenic patients. However, because OCS are often comorbid with schizophrenia regardless of clozapine treatment, it remains unclear wh...
DiscussionThese findings behoove clinicians to be mindful when evaluating patients' need to be on LAI antipsychotics amidst multifaceted considerations, especially downstream adverse events such as metabolic and extrapyramidal side effects.
CONCLUSIONS: The term anosognosia emphasises that, in schizophrenia, lack of capacity is the result of a neurological deficit. Under-appreciation of this may place that person at risk of a preventable harm. PMID: 32469641 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
CONCLUSION: The existence of interactions between mGlu4 and 5-HT1A receptors may represent another signaling pathway involved in the development and treatment psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia or depression. PMID: 32472388 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
