21. Missed Opportunities for Contraception in an Adolescent Primary Care Clinic.

Nearly half of adolescents have been sexually active by age 18, and teens represent the highest sexually transmitted infections (STI) rate in the U.S. Adolescents do not obtain routine care so discussing contraception at each visit is imperative. Previous studies focused on missed opportunities for adult or pregnant women, with little attention to adolescent primary care. Our study objectives were to determine the frequency of visits before contraception was discussed/initiated, and to assess factors affecting contraceptive care.
