Rare Causes of Unilateral Sensorineural Hearing Loss in Adults: Our Experience

This study discusses the rare possible etiologies of USNHL that can be easily missed if these are not ruled out properly. We present these cases to consider these heterogeneous and distinct ca uses of USNHL because of rarity of these etiologies. If such an etiology is diagnosed in time, they may be managed effectively.

Abstract Mortality statistics due to COVID-19 worldwide are compared, by adjusting for the size of the population and the stage of the pandemic. Data from the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention, and Our World in Data websites were used. Analyses are based on number of deaths per one million inhabitants. In order to account for the stage of the pandemic, the baseline date was defined as the day in which the 10th death was reported. The analyses included 78 countries and territories which reported 10 or more deaths by April 9. On day 10, India had 0.06 deaths per million, Belgium had 30.46 and San Marino 618....

CONCLUSIONS: Mean AA was highest for the push-up technique, followed by the pull-away technique, the minus-lens technique, the modified push up technique, and dynamic retinoscopy. The push-up and pull-away methods and dynamic retinoscopy showed a significant difference in measurement of AA between sexes. PMID: 32495530 [PubMed - in process]

CONCLUSIONS: The study shows an important correlation between oral health, oral hygiene habits, dental assistance and clinical intercurrences with hospitalization in dialysis patients. The results are weighty to establish protocols that can, directly improve, critical health outcomes of end-stage kidney disease patients under dialysis treatment.
