Conclusion: We suggest physicians screen lung cancer patients at working age (broadly aged ≤65 years) and/or who report increased pain at the time of diagnosis as they might be at particular risk for emotional, physical, and financial problems. Our results emphasize to address emotional and physical needs before and during early treatment in lung cancer patients as suggested in integrative and supportive cancer concepts. CONCLUSION: Cancers have utility in assessing heritability, but a low prevalence and lack of diagnostic data rules this out. Psychological conditions may be heritable, but the techniques to assess this are still developing. Chromosomal damage in veterans and offspring can be detected, but with present knowledge cannot explain health outcomes. Future work should assemble a veteran and family register with linkage to routine data-sets. Veterans and offspring should be encouraged to seek support. PMID: 32438378 [PubMed - in process]

Conclusion: Comfort levels declined after chemotherapy until the third week of treatment. Anxiety, fatigue and distress symptoms varied across the four time points of chemotherapy from isolation to return to the non-isolated ward. Health care professionals should be aware of psychological symptoms when patients are in isolation rooms, and interventions for promoting a humanized environment, quality of life, and comfort should be considered and provided along with the treatment stages of chemotherapy.
