Authors: Cichoń L, Janas-Kozik M, Siwiec A, Rybakowski JK Abstract Bipolar disorder (BD) is characterized by pathological changes in mood as well as recurring episodes of mania, hypomania, depression and mixed symptoms. In recent years, the number of BD diagnoses has risen considerably in children and adolescents. Itis believed that anaverage rate of prevalence of bipolar spectrum disorder in the pediatric population is 1.8%, and BD type I - 1.2%, and the prevalence of the disorder increases with the age of patients. Despite the same diagnostic criteria, there are premises that suggest thatthe symptoms of the diso...

Authors: Urban AE, Cubała WJ Abstract Eugeroics are a relatively new class of wakefulness-promoting agents. Thegroup includes adrafinil, modafinil and armodafinil. Modafinil is the most widely used and the best studied agent. Indications for the use of modafinil include the treatment of narcolepsy, shift-work sleep disorders and excessive daytime sleepiness associated with obstructive sleep apnea. Many studies show the utility of modafinil and armodafinil in the treatment of depression - both in monotherapy andas potentiation therapy if needed. Modafinil has proven to be effective in the treatment of residual symp...

This study used an uncontrolled design with mixed-methods evaluation. Feasibility and acceptability were assessed in terms of recruitment, use of the intervention and satisfaction from both clinicians and patients' perspectives. Personal recovery, quality of life and severity of symptoms were measured at baseline and post-intervention. Fifteen patients signed consent and used the programme for 10 weeks. Usage of the intervention was adequate with high frequency of tool usage. There was a significant improvement in patients' sense of personal recovery (z=2.38, p=.017). The intervention was found acceptable and easy-to-use; ...

We demonstrate that HMGA2-fusions lipomas are a specific subtype and that the common shared lipid accumulation mechanism is...

Caustic esophageal stricture length assessment is essential for planning endoscopic management and predicting its prognosis. We aimed to assess the accuracy of contrast swallow study (CSS) in measuring stricture length in comparison to endoscopy (definitive investigation for actual length measurement).
