What is the emergency application differences concerning diseases pertinent to the chest between Turkish citizens and Syrian refugees ?: A cross ‐sectional study

ConclusionThere are differences in the disease patterns of Syrian refugees and Turkish citizens applying to the emergency department. This may be explained by the difficulty in communication which, to our opinion, may be reversed as language barriers are overcome and adaptation to the society is completed over time.

Bae Children exposed to secondhand smoke (SHS) are at increased risk for disease. We sought to estimate the medical costs among Korean children who were exposed to SHS at home. A Markov model was developed, including five diseases (asthma, acute otitis media, acute bronchitis, pneumonia and sudden infant death syndrome) that were significantly associated with SHS in children based on a systematic review. The time horizon of the analysis was 20 years (from birth to adulthood), and the cycle length was 1 week. The direct healthcare costs were discounted annually at 5%. Univariate and probabilistic sensitivity analyses we...

(CNN) — Parents take note: GlaxoSmithKline Consumer Healthcare has voluntarily recalled three lots of its children’s cough syrups — Children’s Robitussin Honey Cough and Chest Congestion DM and Children’s Dimetapp Cold and Cough — due to the products having incorrect dosing cups in their packaging. That means parents might accidentally overdose a child by putting too much syrup in the cup. Symptoms of overdose of either product may include impaired coordination, elevated blood pressure, dizziness, seizure, nausea, vomiting, constipation, diarrhea, abdominal pain, hallucinations, among ot...

Conclusion: Results suggest that HRV analysis could be useful for the continuous monitoring of ANS anomalies present in asthma, thus contributing to evaluate the evolution of the disease, which is especially challenging in young children. Significance: Noninvasive ANS assessment using HRV analysis could be useful in the continuous monitoring of asthma in children.

AbstractAir pollution (AP) is one of the major causes of health risks as it leads to widespread morbidity and mortality each year. Its environmental impacts include acid rains, reduced visibility, but more importantly and significantly, it affects human health. The price tag of not managing AP is seen in the rise of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cardiovascular disease, and respiratory ailments like asthma and chronic bronchitis. But as the world battles the corona pandemic, COVID-19 lockdown has abruptly halted human activity, leading to a significant reduction in AP levels. The effect of this reduction is ...

Abstract Theophylline is a potent bronchodilator for the treatment of asthma, bronchitis, and emphysema. Its narrow therapeutic window (20-100 μM) demands that the blood concentration of theophylline be monitored carefully, which can be achieved by aptamer capture. Thus, an understanding of what occurs when aptamers bind to theophylline is critical for identifying a high-affinity and high-specificity aptamer, which improve the sensitivity and selectivity of theophylline detection. Consequently, there is an urgent need to develop a simple, convenient, and nondestructive method to monitor conformational chan...

walski The main aim of this work is the estimation of health risks arising from exposure to ozone or other air pollutants by different statistical models taking into account delayed health effects. This paper presents the risk of hospitalization due to bronchitis and asthma exacerbation in adult inhabitants of Silesian Voivodeship from 1 January 2016 to 31 August 2017. Data were obtained from the daily register of hospitalizations for acute bronchitis (code J20–J21, International Classification of Diseases, Tenth Revision – ICD-10) and asthma (J45–J46) which is governed by the National Hea...
