Source: Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality [U.S. Department of Health and Human Services] (AHRQ). Published: 2/19/2020. The purpose of this systematic review is to identify and synthesize the evidence available to support the development of evidence-based recommendations and guidelines for prehospital airway management. It considers how the benefits and harms of different methods may differ across these factors: patient characteristics (e.g., demographics, type and severity of illness or injury, and the patient location/environment); the techniques and devices used for each airway management approach; and the characteristics of the EMS personnel (e.g., training, certification, and expertise).
