Graduate Enrollment in Science, Engineering, and Health Rose 3 % in 2018

The number of graduate students enrolled in science, engineering, and health ( SEH ) programs at U.S. academic institutions rose by 3 % between 2017 and 2018, growing to 668,307. Of these students, almost 75 % were enrolled full time. The increase in overall enrollment was driven by increases in part-time master ' s, full-time doctoral, and full-time master ' s students. These and other findings are from the 2018 Survey of Graduate Students and Postdoctorates in Science and Engineering, sponsored by the National Center for Science and Engineering Statistics within the National Science Foundation and by the National Institutes of Health.
