Nomograms for Predicting Cancer-Specific and Overall Survival Among Patients With Endometrial Carcinoma: A SEER Based Study

This study aimed to develop a detailed survival prognostication tool based on various clinical indicators of patients because of the lack of comprehensive prognostic tool. Methods: Data regarding 63,729 patients with endometrial carcinoma were extracted from the SEER database between 1988 and 2015. Univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to screen for meaningful independent prognostic factors. These factors were used to construct a nomogram model, a survival prognostication tool for 3- and 5-year tumor-specific survival and overall survival among patients with endometrial carcinoma. Results: A total of 63,729 patients were randomly assigned to the training group (n = 42,486) and the test group (n = 21,243). Age, race, year of diagnosis, histologic grade, clinical stage, and tumor size were assessed as predictors of cancer-specific survival (CSS) and univariate and multivariate Cox regression analyses were used to identify independent prognostic factors (P

In this study, we aim to investigate whether the oncologic outcomes of grade 2 endometrioid endometrial carcinomas trend towards grade 1 or 3 tumors. Patients' records and pathological reports were reviewed retrospectively and eligible patients with endometrioid endometrial carcinoma were determined and distributed into 3 groups according to their 1988 International Federation of Gynecology and Obstetrics (FIGO) grade. Groups' characteristics and oncologic outcomes were compared. Differences between grades were tested with z-test and adjusted by Bonferroni method. Kaplan-Meier method was performed for the survival analysis...

Abstract In 2013, The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) Research Network found four novel prognostic subgroups of endometrial carcinoma: POLE/ultramutated (POLE), microsatellite-instable/hypermutated (MSI), copy-number-low/TP53-wild-type (CNL), and copy-number-highTP53-mutant (CNH). However, poor is known regarding uncommon histotypes of endometrial cancer. We aimed to assess the genetic profile of uterine carcinosarcoma (UCS) on the light of these findings. A systematic review and meta-analysis was performed through electronic databases searching (up to July 2019). All studies assessing UCS series for the TCGA classific...

ConclusionsWhile several CPGs are shared across patients, many pathogenic variants are found to be ancestry-specific and trigger somatic effects. Studies using larger cohorts of diverse ancestries are required to pinpoint ancestry-specific genetic predisposition and inform genetic screening strategies.

CONCLUSION: Adjuvant chemotherapy given before radiotherapy for Endometrial Cancer may lessen the effect of high-risk features on the DFS and OS. Randomized clinical trials are needed to determine the benefits of early Systemic Therapy. PMID: 32458640 [PubMed - in process]

In this study, we devoted to investigate immune-related genes and tumor microenvironment (TME) in EC based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. In total 799 up-regulated and 139 down-regulated immune-related and differentially expressed genes in EC were investigated for functional annotations and prognosis. By a conjoint Cox regression analysis, we built two risk models for OS and DFS, as well as the consistent nomograms. Immune-related pathways were revealed mostly enriched in the low-risk group. By further analyzing TME based on the risk signatures, the higher immune cell infiltration and activation, lower tumor p...

Abstract The aim of this study was to investigate the association between the clinicopathologic factors and either expression or co-expression of mesothelin and cancer antigen (CA) 125 in endometrial serous carcinoma and mixed carcinomas including serous carcinoma. Between 1990 and 2017, patients with endometrial serous carcinoma and mixed carcinoma including serous carcinoma treated by total hysterectomy and bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy at our hospital were identified. The association between either expression or co-expression of mesothelin and CA125 was evaluated by immunochemical analysis and the clinico-pat...

Abstract Objectives: We aimed to evaluate the possible role of dietray TAC against different types of cancers in a systematic review and meta-analyses of observational studies. Methods: A literature search of authentic electronic resources had been performed to obtain the relevant studies up to February 2020. Results: Twenty-one studies including nine prospective and twelve case-control studies were included in the current systematic review and meta-analysis. These studies have included 1404297 individuals. Higher TAC categories were associated with 21% reduced risk of colorectal cancer, 27% reduced risk of endome...

Pan‑cancer analysis of transmembrane protease serine 2 and cathepsin L that mediate cellular SARS‑CoV‑2 infection leading to COVID-19. Int J Oncol. 2020 May 26;: Authors: Katopodis P, Anikin V, Randeva HS, Spandidos DA, Chatha K, Kyrou I, Karteris E Abstract Severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) coronavirus‑2 (SARS‑CoV2) is the cause of a new disease (COVID‑19) which has evolved into a pandemic during the first half of 2020. Older age, male sex and certain underlying diseases, including cancer, appear to significantly increase the risk for severe COVID‑19. SARS‑CoV‑2 infection of ...

Prognostic Role of Krüppel-Like Factors 5, 9, and 11 in Endometrial Endometrioid Cancer. Pathol Oncol Res. 2020 May 25;: Authors: Viola L, Londero AP, Bertozzi S, Orsaria M, Marzinotto S, Antoniazzi F, Renda V, Cinel J, Fruscalzo A, Lellé RJ, Mariuzzi L Abstract BACKGROUND AND OBJECTIVE: Krüppel-like factors (KLFs) are transcription factors with the ability to mediate cross-talk with signaling pathways involved in cell proliferation control, apoptosis, migration, and differentiation. They also appear to influence steroid hormone signaling through transcriptional networks involving ste...
