Diagnostic imaging of typical lung carcinoids: relationship between MDCT, 111 In-Octreoscan and 18 F-FDG-PET imaging features with Ki-67 index

ConclusionsMDCT and nuclear molecular imaging are important to characterize lung TCs. The majority of TCs appear as a well-defined nodule generally not associated with extra-thorax signs. We found a significant correlation between some MDCT aspects, nuclear medicine features and Ki-67 index. The association of MDCT and nuclear medicine imaging may be useful in predicting proliferative activity and prognosis of lung TCs.

Authors: Lachkar S, Guisier F, Roger M, Bota S, Lerouge D, Piton N, Thiberville L, Salaün M Abstract Background: Fiducial markers (FMs) are useful for tracking small peripheral lung nodules (PLN) before stereotactic radiotherapy, but migration over the course of treatment may result in inaccurate dosing to the tumor. To minimize FM migration, coil-tailed FMs have been designed. Our objective was to assess both the feasibility of radial endobronchial ultrasonography (r-EBUS) placement and the migration rate of coil-tailed FMs. Methods: In this retrospective study, we included patients who received r-EBUS gu...

Conclusion: Image-guided hypofractionated PT for centrally-located early-stage NSCLC provides excellent local control with low rates of grade ≥3 toxicities. For tumors in sensitive locations, PT may provide safer treatment than photon-based treatments due to its dosimetric advantages. PMID: 32394776 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

A phase I study of loco-regional immunotherapy by transbronchial injection of α-galactosylceramide-pulsed antigen presenting cells in patients with lung cancer. Clin Immunol. 2020 May 06;:108457 Authors: Ishibashi F, Sakairi Y, Iwata T, Moriya Y, Mizobuchi T, Hoshino H, Yoshida S, Hanaoka H, Yoshino I, Motohashi S Abstract We conducted a phase I study of the trans-bronchial injection of α-galactosylceramide (αGalCer)-pulsed antigen presenting cells (APCs) to evaluate their safety, immune responses, and anti-tumor activities. Patients with advanced or recurrent non-small cell lung can...

las L Abstract By allowing insured communication between cancer cells themselves and with the neighboring stromal cells, tunneling nanotubes (TNTs) are involved in the multistep process of cancer development from tumorigenesis to the treatment resistance. However, despite their critical role in the biology of cancer, the study of the TNTs has been announced challenging due to not only the absence of a specific biomarker but also the fragile and transitory nature of their structure and the fact that they are hovering freely above the substratum. Here, we proposed to review guidelines to follow for studying the stru...
