Combination of Fluorine-18 Fluorodeoxyglucose Positron-Emission Tomography/Computed Tomography (¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT) and Tumor Markers to Diagnose Lymph Node Metastasis in Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer (NSCLC): A Retrospective and Prospective Study. Med Sci Monit. 2020 Jun 02;26:e922675 Authors: Zhai X, Guo Y, Qian X Abstract BACKGROUND The early diagnosis of lymph node (LN) metastasis is crucial for patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, the diagnosis of LN metastasis mainly dependent on ¹⁸F-FDG PET/CT (fluorine-18 fluorodeoxyglucose positron-emission tomography/computed tomo...

ConclusionsTreatment of patients with relapsed solid tumors with 7.5  mg/d E and 800 mg/d S is safe and feasible. Early metabolic response in FDG‐PET was not confirmed in CT scan several weeks later. The combination of S and E is obviously not sufficient to induce durable responses in patients with KRAS‐mutant solid tumors.

Conclusion: Anti-GABA-B receptor encephalitis mainly occurred in middle-aged and elderly men, and the disease onset was relatively sudden. Before disease onset, some patients experienced fever and non-specific respiratory symptoms, which mainly manifested as frequent epileptic seizures, cognitive dysfunction, and abnormal mental behavior. MRI and PET-CT revealed abnormal signals and local metabolism, respectively, in the temporal lobe. Moreover, the disease has a close relationship with lung cancer, which requires long-term follow-up observation.

CONCLUSIONS: Weekly docetaxel and platinum-based drug doublet combined with TR yielded promising results in stage III NSCLC, with high survival rates. The toxicity of this association is acceptable, with mainly manageable esophagitis. These findings warrant validation in a prospective study before considering this association for standard of care. We report a mean 3D Dice score of 88.6% on an NHL hold-out set of 1124 scans and a 93% sensitivity on 274 NSCLC hold-out scans. The method is a potential tool for radiologists to rapidly assess eyes to thighs FDG-avid tumor burden.

We report a case of a 64-year-old woman with a 20-day history of chest pain with computed tomography scan showing a right lower lung mass. Diagnoses: Squamous NSCLC was diagnosed by bronchoscopy. Interventions: The patient was treated with sintilimab plus nedaplatin and paclitaxel as neoadjuvant therapy for 3 cycles, followed by right thoracotomy, right middle lobectomy, right lower lobectomy, hilar lymphadenectomy, mediastinal lymphadenectomy, and pericardiostomy. Outcomes: The patient was discharged from the hospital 12 days after operation. Pathological report showed no cancer residue in the lung tissue, the br...

The objective of this study was to develop a venous computed tomography (CT)-based radiomics model to predict the lymph node metastasis (LNM) in patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). A total of 411 consecutive patients with NSCLC underwent tumor resection and lymph node (LN) dissection from January 2018 to September 2018 in our hospital. A radiologist with 20 years of diagnostic experience retrospectively reviewed all CT scans and classified all visible LNs into LNM and non-LNM groups without the knowledge of pathological diagnosis. A logistic regression model (radiomics model) in classification of pathology-co...

Sabina Janciauskiene Michael Meister Marc A. Schneider Computed tomography (CT) scans are the gold standard to measure treatment success of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) therapies. Here, we investigated the very early tumor response of patients receiving chemotherapy or targeted therapies using a panel of already established and explorative liquid biomarkers. Blood samples from 50 patients were taken at baseline and at three early time points after therapy initiation. DNA mutations, a panel of 17 microRNAs, glycodelin, glutathione disulfide, glutathione, soluble caspase-cleaved cytokeratin 18 (M30 antigen), ...

Pembrolizumab, a humanized anti ‐programmed cell death‐1 (PD‐1) monoclonal antibody, demonstrates efficacy in treating non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). However, it can cause immune‐related adverse events (irAEs), including inflammatory manifestations. Cholangitis is a rare irAE. Herein, we report on an NSCLC patient w ho developed pembrolizumab‐induced cholangitis and review the relevant literature. AbstractA 50 ‐year‐old woman with stage IV lung adenocarcinoma received seven cycles of pembrolizumab as third‐line chemotherapy. Following the failure of pembrolizumab, she commenced fourth‐line chemothe...
