Bronchoscopy-guided intervention therapy with extracorporeal membrane oxygenation support for advanced cancer metastasis to the central airway: A case report

Conclusion: ECMO can meet the oxygenation needs during bronchoscopy-guided intervention therapy. For patients with severe central airway obstruction due to malignant tumors, ECMO should be considered if conventional respiratory support cannot guarantee the safety of surgery.

428Objectives: To clarify the safety and efficacy of radioactive Iodine-125 seeds implantation (RISI) in the treatment of thoracic malignant tumors, and to explore the relationship between different doses of RISI and efficacy and side effects. Materials and Methods: Inclusion criteria: (1) Primary or metastatic tumors of the chest with definite pathological diagnosis; (2) unable or unsuitable for surgery or radiotherapy; (3) tumor diameter 70 score. All patients underwent preoperative planning design, 3D printing template design and printing, CT-guided seeds implantation assisted by template and post-operative dosimetric v...

Conclusions: Magnesium sulfate is an important adjuvant drug in the practice of anesthesia, with several clinical effects and a low incidence of adverse events when used at recommended doses. Introduction Magnesium is the fourth most common ion in the body, and it participates in several cellular processes, including protein synthesis, neuromuscular function and stability of nucleic acid, as well as regulating other electrolytes such as calcium and sodium. Magnesium acts as a cofactor in protein synthesis, neuromuscular function and stability and the function of nucleic acids. It is a component of adenosine 5-triph...

Summary Esophageal and head and neck (H&N) cancers often occur synchronously, this study aimed to clarify the benefits and disadvantages of synchronous and staged operations for double H&N/esophagus cancers. We retrospectively reviewed 43 patients with synchronous double cancer of H&N and esophagus treated between July 2005 and July 2014, of whom 33 patients underwent synchronous operation (SYN) and 10 underwent staged operations (STG). We compared the short‐term outcomes between the groups. Operation time was longer, amount of blood loss was larger, and hospital stay was longer in the SYN group than in each single surge...

We describe a case of esophageal adenocarcinoma arising in long-segment BE (LSBE) associated with a hiatal hernia that was successfully treated with a laparoscopic transhiatal approach (LTHA) without thoracotomy. The patient was a 42-year-old male who had previously undergone laryngectomy and tracheal separation to avoid repeated aspiration pneumonitis. An ulcerative lesion was found in a hiatal hernia by endoscopy and superficial esophageal cancer was also detected in the lower thoracic esophagus. The histopathological diagnosis of biopsy samples from both lesions was adenocarcinoma. There were difficulties with the thora...
