Authors: Shibayama Y, Wada N, Baba S, Obara S, Sakai H, Usubuchi H, Terae S, Nakamura A, Atsumi T Abstract Patients with primary aldosteronism (PA) are complicated by metabolic syndrome more frequently than those without PA. Hyperaldosteronism has been reported to be associated with a higher prevalence of non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). We aimed to clarify the risk factors for hepatic steatosis in the two subtypes of PA, comparing the status of hepatic steatosis in each of these subtypes. This was a retrospective observational study. We enrolled patients with an aldosterone producing adenoma (APA) (n = 3...
Conclusions: In the Canadian setting, the acceptance of rebiopsy on progression was high. Multiple rebiopsies were clinically feasible and could increase the yield for T790M mutation. The incidence of complications was low despite the most common site for rebiopsy being lung. PMID: 32218657 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusions: Although 3D printed PSTs help to avoid the misplacement of PAs in revision deformity correction surgeries with sublaminar wires in situ, the mean number of misplaced screws per patient using this technique was found to be statistically insignificant when compared with the freehand technique in this study. Conclusions: Clinical symptoms and spinal fusion efficiency were not significantly different between CBT and PS except for postoperative improvement in low back pain. The treatment effect on postoperative low back pain was smaller for CBT than for PS. PMID: 32213798 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]
Conclusions: In this study, the SUV of 99mTc-MDP was successfully determined using SPECT/CT. This research provides an approach that could potentially aid in the clinical quantification of radionuclide uptake in normal vertebrae for the management of breast cancer patients. Serious Complication of Anticoagulation in Vessel Thrombosis-associated Behçet Disease. Intern Med. 2020 Mar 26;: Authors: Ouchi K, Narui R, Sakuma T, Ojiri H Abstract Anticoagulation in venous thrombosis associated with Behçet disease (BD) is controversial. We herein report a 47-year-old woman with vessel thrombosis and pulmonary artery aneurysm (PAA) associated with BD who died of massive hemoptysis under oral anticoagulant. Although she was initially diagnosed with oral contraceptive-induced venous thromboembolism, a subsequent investigation led to a diagnosis of BD. Follow-up computed...
CONCLUSION: Clinicians should consider the possibility of SPN for pancreatic heterogeneous masses. Multiple diagnostic imaging modalities and EUS-FNA may contribute to the preoperative diagnosis of this disease. PMID: 32211105 [PubMed]
CONCLUSION: PET/CT is a useful tool in the evaluation of colorectal cancer, and it allows to metabolically characterize undetermined lesions suspected for recurrence of disease, to perform a complete pre-surgical staging and to identify occult metastatic disease. PET/CT should be considered an essential diagnostic tool in the management of patients with colorectal cancer, especially in the preoperative staging. CONCLUSIONS: There is no single absolute modality for de tecting ALNMs in breast cancers to replace sentinel lymph node biopsy or axillary lymph node dissection. If ALNM is suspected based on PET/CT, axillary lymph node dissection without sentinel lymph node biopsy might be a better option because it is related to high possibilities of ALNM. CONCLUSION: Induction chemotherapy with Cisplatin and Docetaxel is a promising regimen with good response and favorable toxicity profile and can be considered as a potentially effective outpatient regimen for locally advanced squamous cell carcinoma of head and neck.
