3CMultimodal Analgesia Tried and True and Those Less Used

Opioid use in acute and chronic persistent pain continues as epidemic levels. Although for many, opioids provide reasonable pain relief, dose escalation is one of many contributions to dangerous respiratory suppression, opioid dependence and opioid hyperalgesia. The aim of this presentation is to discuss and review medications used in multimodal analgesia and its opioid sparing effect. In lecture format, a number of medications will be reviewed. These medications include but are not limited to Topical agents, Gabapentinoids, Antidepressants, over the counter medications, Ketamine and Buprenorphine.
