R2Improving the Safety of Opioid Therapy (ISOT): Exploring Components of a Nurse-led Multi-Component Intervention
Prescription opioid use remains a common treatment for chronic pain despite its uncertain efficacy and significant risks. There is an urgent need for programs designed to reduce harms and increase safety related to prescription opioids, especially in the primary care setting. There are currently few multicomponent education and support programs for both patients and clinicians regarding long-term opioid use, and there remains a need for pragmatic interventions delivered in the primary care setting.
