Authors: Ge B, Wei Y Abstract BACKGROUND Cerebral angiography, or intra-arterial digital subtraction angiography (DSA), is a fluoroscopic imaging technique. In China, until recently, transfemoral access (TFA) has been used, rather than transradial access (TRA). This retrospective study aimed to compare transfemoral cerebral angiography (TFCA) with transradial cerebral angiography (TRCA) consecutively performed by the same operator, at a single center in China, to determine whether there were benefits from the shift from TFA to TRA in terms of efficiency, safety, and feasibility. MATERIAL AND METHODS A review of 1,0...

This study was designed to measure retinal perfusion density changes on optical coherence tomography (OCT) angiography and OCT thickness alterations associated with acutely increased IOP after intravitreal injections. Methods: Retrospective observational clinical study of 40 eyes (39 patients) with various retinopathies from October 2016 to June 2017 at a tertiary care retina clinic in NYC. Patients were older than 18 years, with vision>20/100, able to fixate and without media opacities precluding OCT angiography, receiving intravitreal bevacizumab or aflibercept for diabetic retinopathy, retinal vein occlusion, macu...

Purpose: To use swept-source optical coherence tomography and swept-source optical coherence tomography angiography to investigate potential relationships between choroidal vascular hyperpermeability (CVH) seen with indocyanine green angiography (ICGA), choriocapillaris flow density, and choroidal thickness in eyes with pachychoroid pigment epitheliopathy. Methods: Patients with pachychoroid pigment epitheliopathy were prospectively imaged with 12-mm × 12-mm swept-source optical coherence tomography, 12-mm × 12-mm swept-source optical coherence tomography angiographyA, and ICGA. Binarized choriocapillaris ...

Purpose: We hypothesized that severe forms of neovascular age-related macular degeneration (AMD) such as large pigment epithelial detachments poorly responding to anti–vascular endothelial growth factor therapy might present a distinct genotype compared with overall series of neovascular AMD. Methods: This is a multicenter genetic association study. Sixty-eight patients presenting pigment epithelial detachments resistant to ranibizumab (issued from ARI2 study, register number NCT02157077 on clinicaltrials.gov) were compared with two series of patients derived from previously published clinical studies, presentin...

Conclusion: Review strategies for detection of CNV on OCTA were highest using the manual segmentation method as compared to both the automated report and continuous slab descent methods. Although the manual segmentation method had a higher rate of detection, the practical aspects of the time required for segmentation make this method challenging in routine clinical practice.

Conclusion: Prolonged FLIO lifetimes in the parafoveal area within the short spectral channel, especially temporally, are MacTel-specific. Fluorescence lifetime imaging ophthalmoscopy detects these lifetime patterns in over one-third of clinically unaffected MacTel-C. Although further studies will be necessary to determine the specificity of FLIO, it may help diagnose MacTel before conventional imaging modalities show changes or patients experience visual disturbances. Early detection may facilitate future gene discovery studies and interventional trials.

Purpose: To describe structural optical coherence tomography (OCT) and OCT angiography features in patients who have developed hyperreflective foveal spots with or without vitreomacular interface abnormalities or with vitreous adhesion alone. Methods: The study design was observational and cross sectional. The presence of defined epiretinal membrane was considered an exclusion criterion. All patients underwent complete ophthalmologic examination, with structural OCT and OCT angiography acquisitions. Both qualitative and quantitative analyses of OCT angiography reconstructions were performed for superficial capillary p...

Purpose: To characterize features of central serous chorioretinopathy (CSC) using multicolor (MC) imaging and to compare the efficacy of using MC imaging and traditional color fundus photography (CFP) for detecting features of CSC. Methods: A retrospective review of 75 eyes of 69 participants with CSC from the Eye Center of the Renmin Hospital of Wuhan University. The patients underwent same-day CFP, fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA), spectral domain optical coherence tomography (SD-OCT), and MC imaging (including infrared reflectance (IR), green reflectance (GR), blue reflectance (BR), combined standard MC image, ...

Conclusion: Scan averaging of en face optical coherence tomography angiography images improves the clarity of vessels and may allow for more accurate quantification of vessel metrics. Quantitative metrics are significantly associated with BCVA, and averaging does not further improve this association compared with single-scan analysis.

Conclusions Intraoperative neurophysiologic monitoring correlates with neurologic outcome after endovascular and surgical treatment of a cervical AVM. Intraoperative monitoring provides continuous functional information of long and metameric spinal cord pathways, which is critical when deciding on the vessel to be embolized and during microsurgical excision where the surgeon is in less control of the AVM hemodynamic flow.
