In this study, we assessed the accuracy of preoperative CT and identified the factors affecting diagnosis. Methods: Patients diagnosed or strongly suspected from July 2016 to June 2019 with appendiceal mucocele or mucinous neoplasm using abdominal CT were included in the study. All the patients underwent single-incision laparoscopic cecectomy with the margin of cecum secured at least 2 cm from the appendiceal base. To compare blood test results and CT findings, the patients were divided into a mucinous and a nonmucinous group according to pathology. Results: The total number of patients included in this study was 5...

Authors: Kajiyama H, Suzuki S, Utsumi F, Nishino K, Niimi K, Mizuno M, Yoshikawa N, Kawai M, Oguchi H, Mizuno K, Yamamuro O, Shibata K, Nagasaka T, Kikkawa F Abstract Malignant ovarian neoplasm is one of the most lethal malignancies among cancers of the female reproductive system. However, there limited clinical information on metastatic ovarian carcinoma (MOC) and its hallmarks are unknown. During the period of 1986-2015, 4,284 patients with malignant ovarian neoplasm ...

It is nonmalign AM mostly however having mucocele matters because of the significant association with synchronous tumors.

We report the detailed characterization of a mucinous carcinoma arising in the fimbrial end of the fallopian tube in a 74-yr-old woman. The patient presented with recurrent urinary tract infection and urinary tract obstruction secondary to a large right ovarian mass. She had an appendicectomy as an 11 yr old. Serum CA-125 was raised at 239 U/mL. Computed tomographic scans showed bilateral, cystic ovarian tumors but no other intra-abdominal abnormality. The patient underwent total abdominal hysterectomy, bilateral salpingo-oophorectomy, and omental biopsy. Microscopy showed mucinous carcinoma arising from the left tubal fim...

Borderline ovarian tumors" A contemporary review of clinicopathological characteristics, diagnostic methods and therapeutic options. J BUON. 2016 Jul-Aug;21(4):780-786 Authors: Solmaz Hasdemir P, Guvena T Abstract Borderline ovarian tumors (BOTs) differ from the epithelial ovarian malignancies with their excellent prognosis, curability with surgery, and being seen in relatively young ages. Thus, fertility sparing and conservative surgical approaches are currently recommended. Preoperative diagnosis of BOTs can be challenging because, clinical and ultrasonographic features might overlap with invasi...
