Understanding Respiratory Restrictions as a Function of the Scoliotic Spinal Curve in Thoracic Insufficiency Syndrome: A 4D Dynamic MR Imaging Study
Conclusions: The relationships between component tidal volumes and the spinal curve type are complex and are beyond intuitive reasoning and guessing. TLC has a much greater influence on restricting chest wall and diaphragm tidal volumes than MTC. Major curve angles are not indicative of passive resting volumes or tidal volumes. ConclusionCurve progression can be predicted by the underlying vertebral abnormalities. However, it cannot predict cord and other organ-system anomalies. Thus, all patients with congenital scoliosis must undergo MRI of the spine, electro- and echocardiography and ultrasonography of the abdomen to detect occult abnormalities and optimize the patient prior to deformity correction.
Conclusion. Dextrocardia shows increased incidence of AIS in both male and female patients. Left-sided thoracic curvature in cases with concurrent dextrocardia may not be associated with intra-spinal pathology as seen in the general population. Conclusions: Even with the absence of subjective urinary symptoms, subclinical urologic impairments can be observed in a significant number of patients with ISC. An abnormal UDS finding can be a sign of underlying spinal cord tethering in a patient with ISC who is a candidate for corrective spine surgery even though it is an independent variant and is not exclusive to candidates for surgery. We describe a comprehensive, multidisciplinary treatment approach for lumbar vertebral hemangiomas (VHs) with spinal stenosis and radiculopathy. A 59-year-old female presented with 1 year of pain predominantly in the lower back, with pain in the left buttock and proximal left anterior thigh as well and magnetic resonance imaging of the lumbar spine demonstrated lumbar scoliosis and an L3 vertebral lesion suspicious for hemangioma. Conclusion: The 3D finite element model based on 3D finite element software was highly efficient, and its numerical simulation was accurate, which was important for the subsequent biomechanical analysis of PVCR orthopaedy. CONCLUSIONS: There is a larger degree of lateral deviation of the LP on the concave side of scoliosis compared to medial deviation on the convex side. These deviations remained consistent irrespective of the direction of scoliosis. A review of the imaging studies and pre procedural ultrasound assessment of anatomy should be strongly considered prior to needle puncture. Discussion VATER association was first described in the 1970s with additional congenital malformations being added to the association so it is most often called VACTERL association.
