Mother nose best: Child body odor provides olfactory clues to developmental stages
(Frontiers) A child's body odor can help a mother fall in love with her child -- and signal when it's time for the mother-child bond to grow up. New research published in the journal Frontiers in Psychology now suggests that a mom's olfactory sense may be capable of detecting her child's developmental stage. The findings could have long-term implications for treatment of conditions like postpartum bonding disorders.
