Decontamination of ASFV in Water using Ultraviolet-c Irradiation

Recently, several reports in the Journal of Infection have highlighted the problem of African swine fever (ASF)1,2,3. ASF caused by the African swine fever virus (ASFV), is a highly contagious hemorrhagic disease, affecting domestic pigs and wild boar, with a high morbidity and mortality4. In Asia, with the exception of Russia, China was the first country to experience ASF and reported its first outbreak in August 20185. Within a year, ASF quickly spread into all of the provinces in Mainland China.
