Moving to Wales - advice needed please!

Hello, I'm an FY2 in Sheffield who is likely to apply for either GP or psychiatry and are looking to leave Sheffield at the start of ST1. I really like the idea of Wales as a place to train (combination of landscape, amenities, nice people etc) but its a big step and when you applying to specialties that literally allow you to move pretty much anywhere I want to make the right the decision. I've looked a lot on the web and would really appreciate some insider info to address some myths and misconceptions I might have picked up. 1. I will be discriminated against because I'm English and don't speak Welsh. I'm thinking south coast where I've heard this might not be an issue or north coast. I'm aware that mid/western wales this can be an issue? 2. My boyfriend (yeah, I'm gay… see below) won't be able to get a job. His background is design and he currently works for a large retail chain. I'm concerned he might be isolated whilst I'm off training and meeting people through my job. The web suggests that the south is being hit hard by the recession and in the north the jobs are all related to tourism. 3. I'm gay. Now I'm totally aware there are people ok and not ok with this and thats fine and these people can be found everywhere but there are places that are more tolerant than others. Any places to avoid? 4. Outside Cardiff, there doesn't appear to be much of a gay scene. Discuss. 5. Welsh hospitals are struggling, lots of articles that doctors aren't happy. I know we English ...
