Assessment of public perceptions and concerns of celiac disease: A Twitter-based sentiment analysis study
Celiac disease (CD) is an autoimmune systemic disorder elicited by gluten, which can be considered a major public health problem worldwide. CD is characterized by the presence of specific autoantibodies and typical histological features in genetically predisposed individuals [1]. The gluten-free diet (GFD) is the sole safe and effective treatment for CD [2]. A recent meta-analysis by Singh et al. [3] reported a global prevalence in the general population of 1.4% based on serology and of 0.7% based on biopsy.
