ConclusionsHigh levels of resistance to second-line antimicrobials threatens the treatment of nosocomial respiratory infections due to methicillin-resistantS. aureus with decreased susceptibility to linezolid and vancomycin. The wide genotypic diversity found reinforces the central role of ICU infection control in preventing nosocomial transmission.

CONCLUSIONS: DM patients with poor glucose control are more susceptible to MRSA infection. Conclusion: PVL expression is high among clinical S. aureus strains among Gambian patients. Reporting of PVL-SA clinical infections is necessary to enable the monitoring of the clinical impact of these strains in the population and guide prevention of the spread of virulent PVL-positive CA-MRSA strains.

Conclusion The results of our study demonstrate that robenidine is not suitable as a sole antimicrobial agent for the treatment of Gram-negative pathogen infections due to the lack of activity against the majority of Gram-negative isolates except for A. baumannii and A. calcoaceticus. ConclusionThis first evaluation of the GeneXpert MRSA/SA ETA assay with ETA samples found it to be highly sensitive, specific, user-friendly (hands-on time ~  5 min.), and rapid (~ 66 min. assay time).
