Dynamic Computed Tomographic Assessment of the Mitral Annulus in Patients With and Without Mitral Prolapse

Table of Contents Summary: Pre-procedural imaging is critical for planning of transcatheter mitral valve replacement (TMVR) in patients with mitral valve (MV) disorders. There is limited data regarding reliable CT-based measurements to accurately characterize the dynamic geometry of the mitral annulus in patients with MV disease. The current study demonstrated that multiphase CT measurements utilizing prototype mitral modeling software afford effective assessment of mitral annular dynamicity with excellent interobserver agreement. The complex anatomy of the mitral valve and the dramatic variability in mitral annular dimensions across the cardiac cycle warrants dynamic evaluation using multiphasic 3-dimensional CT.
