ECHO ™-Skilled Nursing Facilities: Telementoring for Nurses in Skilled Nursing Facility Leadership Positions
It is common for nurses with limited specialized training in geriatrics to care for older adults at skilled nursing facilities (SNFs). In SNFs on the south side of Chicago, prior needs assessments have identified a gap in knowledge in geriatrics topics. To address knowledge gaps, we utilized the Extension for Community Healthcare Outcomes (ECHO ™) model to provide case-based, interdisciplinary geriatrics medical education and telementoring, at no cost, to nurses in leadership positions at SNFs across Chicago’s South side.
