Characteristics of Patients With Psoriasis Associated With “Not Relevant” Responses on the DLQI

This cross-sectional study using data from the Dermatology Clinical Effectiveness Research Network assesses whether the frequency of “not relevant” responses on the Dermatology Life Quality Index (DLQI) is associated with sociodemographic characteristics of patients with psoriasis.

Conclusions: The mapping algorithms reported in this paper can be used to predict the EQ-5D-5L utilities from the PDI; however, similar to other mapping studies in the literature it can only serve as the second-best approach to elicit utilities from disease-specific instruments. We describe and analyze the molecular surface character of known binding epitopes for medications in these classes, showing that significant differences exist in epitope location, hydrophobicity, and charge. Some of these differences can be correlated with clinical data, but our analysis ultimately points to the need for more structural information to allow for a better understanding of the structure-function relationship of biologic therapies. AbstractBackgroundPsoriatic arthritis (PsA) patients are often affected by numerous comorbidities. However, contrasting results have been reported with regard to the respiratory involvement in PsA patients. The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of subclinical airway inflammation in non-smoking PsA patients compared to patients with only psoriasis using the fraction of exhaled nitric oxide (FeNO) as an indirect marker of airway inflammation.MethodsThe study included 164 non-smoking psoriatic patients (Psoriasis Area of Severity Index or PASI score>  10): 82 with and 82 without PsA, who underwent FeNO ...

AbstractPsoriasis (PsO) is a common, systemic, chronic, inflammatory disease characterized by key clinical symptoms, including itching, pain, and scaling. PsO is associated with a high prevalence of comorbidities, including other autoimmune diseases and malignancies. Furthermore, special populations, such as pregnant, pediatric, and elderly patients, and those with erythrodermic PsO, are challenging to treat and require tightly monitored disease and treatment management. Because certain populations have demographic or clinical characteristics that can affect the presentation of PsO and complicate treatment responses, these...

The wrist is not commonly aspirated in the emergency department, but emergent arthrocentesis may be indicated for extreme or concerning cases, and tapping the wrist to determine the underlying pathology or relieve pain may be of great value. The synovial fluid from the joint space can be analyzed for crystals, infection, and blood. This information may help determine the overall plan and aid in decision-making and consultation. The ultimate treatment plan may include admission, intravenous antibiotics, multiple aspirations, and even surgical washout.A swollen, painful wrist that is hot to the touch is concerning for sep...
