Minors in Connecticut are not permitted to consent for prenatal care, including routine services on labor and delivery. When faced with a parent who adamantly refuses to consent for her daughter ’s epidural, we are forced to decline a patient’s request for anesthesia. This case report outlines legislation relating to treatment of minors in Connecticut and explores opportunities to eliminate the obstacles adolescents face to obtaining quality antepartum care.
