Plaque morphology assessed by optical coherence tomography in the culprit lesions of the first episode of acute myocardial infarction in patients with low low-density lipoprotein cholesterol level.

CONCLUSIONS: Patients with lower LDL-C showed more prevalent intact fibrous cap and less vulnerable features in the culprit lesions, which may suggest the need for exploring a specific strategy for the prevention of plaque erosion in low LDL-C subjects.
