Anti-Ro52 and/or anti-Ro60 immune reactivity: autoantibody and disease associations.

CONCLUSIONS: Testing for autoantibodies against both Ro peptides may aim diagnosis, classify clinical manifestations in disease entities and define prognosis in certain autoimmune disorders. A distinct weight could be given to the isolated anti-Ro specificities in the SS classification criteria. PMID: 32083547 [PubMed - as supplied by publisher]

This article discusses the most common tumor and tumor-like lesions arising at the shoulder. Osseous tumors of the shoulder rank second in incidence to those at the knee joint and include benign osteochondromas and myeloma or primary malignant lesions, such as osteosarcoma or chondrosarcomas. Soft tissue tumors are overwhelmingly benign, with lipomas predominating, although malignant lesions, such as liposarcomas, can occur. Numerous tumor-like lesions may arise from the joints or bursae, due to either underlying arthropathy and synovitis (eg, rheumatoid arthritis and amyloid) or related to conditions, including tenosynovi...

Authors: Gökaslan S, Demirbaş H, Özer Gökaslan Ç Abstract BACKGROUND/AIM: Multiple sclerosis (MS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by neurodegeneration or demyelination, and the relapsing?remitting phase of MS is characterized by acute exacerbation of disease activity. The most commonly used non-invasive approach to assess autonomic function is the determination of heart rate turbulence (HRT) and heart rate variability (HRV). The aim of this study was to evaluate the presence of cardiovascular autonomic dysfunction using HRT and HRV parameters determined via 24-hour Holter ECG monitorin...

In this study, we re port a library of 73 novel psoralens, the largest collection of its kind. When screened for the ability to induce cell death, we identified two derivatives even more cytotoxic than 4’‐aminomethyl‐4,5’,8‐trimethylpsoralen (AMT), one of the most potent psoralens identified to date. Using MAL DI‐TOF MS, we studied the DNA adduct formation of a subset of novel psoralens and found that in most cases enhanced DNA binding correlated well with cytotoxicity. Generally, our most active derivatives contain positively charged substituents, which we believe increase DNA affinity and enhance psor...

AbstractIntroductionSeveral factors have been associated with the development of preeclampsia in women with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE).ObjectiveTo identify risk factors associated with preeclampsia in patients with SLE and its impact on fetal outcomes.Patients and methodsWe studied a prospective cohort of pregnancies in women with SLE from January 2009 to December 2018. Demographic, clinical, serological and drug use characteristics were compared between patients who developed preeclampsia and those who did not, as well as the main neonatal outcomes. An adjusted logistic regression analysis was performed to identif...

ObjectiveGenetic variants in the region of tumor necrosis factor –induced protein 3–interacting protein 1 (TNIP1) are associated with autoimmune disease and reducedTNIP1 gene expression. The aim of this study was to define the functional genetic mechanisms drivingTNIP1 hypomorphic expression imparted by the systemic lupus erythematosus –associatedTNIP1 H1 risk haplotype.MethodsDual luciferase expression and electrophoretic mobility shift assays were used to evaluate the allelic effects of 11 risk variants on enhancer function and nuclear protein binding in immune cell line models (Epstein ‐Barr virus [E...

This study was undertaken to investigate the relationship of PPM1A to osteoclast differentiation by generating conditional gene‐knockout (PPM1Afl/fl;LysM ‐Cre) mice and evaluating their bone phenotype.MethodsThe bone phenotypes of LysM ‐Cre mice (n = 6) and PPM1Afl/fl;LysM ‐Cre mice (n = 6) were assessed by micro–computed tomography. Osteoclast differentiation was induced by culturing bone marrow–derived macrophages in the presence of RANKL and macrophage colony‐stimulating factor (M‐CSF), and was evaluated by counting tartrate‐resistant acid phosphatase– positive multinucleated cells. Level...
