Upper spinal neurenteric cyst presenting as right upper abdominal pain and sudden onset of lower limb paralysis: A case report

Neurenteric cysts (NECs) are rare congenital tumors generally found intraspinally and account for 0.7% –1.3% of all spinal tumors.1 They may cause serious neurological deficits due to their compression effect on nerve roots. NECs are easy to treat by excision if diagnosed early,1–5 but usually neglected by clinicians due to rare incidence. Here, we report the case of a 2-year-old child with simul taneous NEC and common viral infection, whose clinical manifestation may mislead clinicians to fall into a pitfall of diagnosis.
