Acne vulgaris and risk of depression and anxiety: A meta-analytic review

Dermatologists are aware of psychological suffering among acne patients yet extant literature regarding their relationship yields inconsistencies. Results of a meta-analysis showed a significant association of acne vulgaris with depression and anxiety. Patients should have access to effective acne treatment and clinicians may consider incorporating psychiatric screening or referral systems.
