Knee osteoarthritis (OA) is a major cause of pain and disability with estimated prevalence of>20% in the elderly. Treating patients with intermediate disease severity is a challenge due to poor response to conservative treatment. Surgery is not warranted in them due to absence of severe deformity. This pain is postulated to be related to osteochondral neoangiogenesis with low-grade inflammation. The feasibility, safety and efficacy of genicular artery embolization for relief of symptoms in this subgroup was studied
