4:03 PM Abstract No. 343 SIR or AUA: whose guidelines to follow? A meta-analysis of the use of minimally invasive surgical therapies and prostate artery embolization for the treatment of benign prostate hyperplasia

Benign prostate hyperplasia (BPH) affects up to 80% of men at one point in life, and in many, causes lower urinary tract symptoms (LUTS) impacting quality of life and sexual health. Medical treatment fails in as many as 30% of patients, and surgical therapies are burdened by multiple side effects. Minimally Invasive Surgical Therapies (MIST) were developed to address this issue, although relative effectiveness has yet to be explored in the literature. A meta-analysis was conducted to assess Prostate Artery Embolization (PAE), Photoselective Vaporization (PVP), Prostatic Urethral Lift (PUL), and Water Vapor Thermal Therapy (WV).
