Abstract No. 730 Ultrasound-guided coil embolization of postbiopsy renal transplant arteriovenous fistulas

Percutaneous core needle biopsy of the transplant kidney is an essential diagnostic tool for the evaluation of renal allograft dysfunction. However, arteriovenous fistulas (AVFs) are a recognized complication with a reported incidence of 5-10%. Endovascular embolization is the current first line treatment with technical and clinical success rates of 71-100% and 57-100%, respectively. This procedure, however, may be limited by contrast-induced nephropathy. The following study evaluates the efficacy and safety of percutaneous ultrasound (US)-guided coil embolization of postbiopsy renal transplant AVFs.
