Authors: Wang J, Yang X, Han S, Zhang L Abstract Disrupted centrosome-associated family protein expression can result in the detrimental duplication of centrosomes, causing genomic instability and subsequent carcinogenesis. Limited research has demonstrated that centrosomal protein 131 (CEP131) exhibits oncogenic activity in osteosarcoma, hepatocellular carcinoma and breast cancer. The present study demonstrated that there is an association between CEP131 expression and advanced Tumor-Node-Metastasis stage (P=0.016), and positive regional lymph node metastasis (P=0.023) in 91 cases of non-small cell lung cancer. A5...

Authors: Kong Y, Nie Z, Guo H, Ma C Abstract The present study aimed to investigate the involvement of long intergenic non-coding RNA for kinase activation (LINK-A) long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) in osteosarcoma. Plasma levels of LINK-A lncRNA and transforming growth factor β1 (TGF-β1) were measured by reverse transcription-quantitative polymerase chain reaction and ELISA, respectively. Correlation between LINK-A lncRNA and TGF-β1 was analyzed by Pearson correlation coefficient. LINK-A lncRNA and TGF-β1 were upregulated in patients with osteosarcoma compared with healthy controls. LINK-A lncRNA an...

Authors: Steckiewicz KP, Barcinska E, Sobczak K, Tomczyk E, Wojcik M, Inkielewicz-Stepniak I Abstract Due to the high toxicity of currently used chemotherapeutics, novel methods of cancer treatment are needed. Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) seem to be an interesting alternative due to penetration through biological membranes and systemic barriers. AuNPs as carriers of chemotherapeutics allow for reduced concentrations whilst maintaining the expected effect, and thus reducing the costs of therapy and adverse effects. We synthesized AuNPs stabilized with reduced glutathione (GSH) and conjugated with doxorubicin (DOX), ge...

CONCLUSIONS: The addition of mifamurtide to chemotherapy might improve event-free survival by decreasing the probability of distant metastasis in bad histologic responders, and also by increasing the time to distant metastasis in the surgical margin positive group. Additional clinical studies are necessary to determine the long-term effects of mifamurtide on metastatic disease.. PMID: 32212798 [PubMed - in process]

In conclusion, these data demonstrated that polydatin induced MG-63 cell death through inducing apoptosis, and autophagy which was mediated via the STAT3 signaling. Therefore, polydatin might be a potential clinical drug in the remedy of osteosarcoma.Graphic abstract

Contributor : Lauren MillsSeries Type : Expression profiling by high throughput sequencingOrganism : Homo sapiensWe previously identified ZNF217 as an oncogenic driver of a subset of osteosarcomas (OSAs) using the Sleeping Beauty (SB) transposon system. Here, we followed up investigating the role of ZNF217 in OSA and combined these studies with an orthotopic preclinical animal model and culture experiments. We found that targeting ZNF217-induced AKT signaling with a small molecule inhibitor is a promising approach to treating ZNF217+ OSAs. Here, we demonstrate that ZNF217 is involved in numerous facets of OSA transformatio...

In this study, we aimed to explore the functions of PTBP1 in chemoresistance of osteosarcoma. We found that PTBP1 was significantly increased in chemotherapeutically insensitive osteosarcoma tissues and cisplatin-resistant osteosarcoma cell lines (MG-63CISR and U-2OSCISR ) as compared to chemotherapy-sensitive osteosarcoma tissues and cell lines. Knock-down of PTBP1 can enhance the anti-proliferation and apoptosis-induced effects of cisplatin in MG-63CISR and U-2OSCISR cells. Moreover, PTBP1 knock-down significantly up-regulated the expression of the copper transporter SLC31A1, as indicated by transcriptome sequencing. Thr...

CONCLUSIONS: Our results revealed that REG γ plays an oncogenic role in OS by activating the Wnt/β-catenin pathway, indicating that REG γ may be a promising therapeutic target for OS patients. PMID: 32194904 [PubMed]
